CV & Drive Axle
CV (Constant Velocity) axles are an important component of a vehicle's drivetrain that connect the transmission to the wheels. They are responsible for transmitting power from the engine and transmission to the wheels while allowing for smooth and efficient movement of the wheels.
CV axles are made up of several components, including a shaft, CV joints, boots, and grease. The CV joints allow for flexibility and movement of the axles, while the boots keep the grease contained and prevent dirt and debris from entering the joint.
CV axles need to be checked regularly to ensure that they are functioning properly. Over time, the CV joint boots can become damaged or cracked, which can cause the grease to leak out and allow dirt and debris to enter the joint. This can cause the joint to wear out more quickly and can eventually lead to failure of the axle.
Additionally, the CV joint itself can become worn or damaged, which can cause vibration, noise, or even complete failure of the axle. Regular inspections of the CV axles can help identify any signs of wear or damage early, allowing for prompt repair or replacement before more serious damage occurs. If you hear a clicking noise, or can see a torn boot, its time to have your axles checked and we are here to help.
